Eat, Pray, Love with Miracles in Bali
The book and movie “Eat, Pray, Love have” turned the spotlight on Balinese Shamans, the traditional healers who play an important part in Bali’s culture by treating physical and mental illness, removing spells and channeling information from the ancestors.
On August 14 2015, A bunch of us from Dubai headed to Bali for a memorable and exciting seven day spiritual retreat. We were picked up at the airport by Jasmine who then brought us to this beautiful luxurious villa. At the villa we were greeted by Filly the chef with tons of sumptuous Indonesian food.
The next morning some of us woke up for yoga classes led by Abi followed by a workshop. Filly stopped by after the workshop to give us our first cooking lesson in Indonesian food i.e gado gado and nasi goreng. It was easy and delicious!
Our weeklong journey included a stop at Tirta Empul (holy spring water) temple well-known for deep spiritual cleansing. We met Wayan the legendary healer who became a celebrity after the movie “Eat Pray Love,”. We also made a trip to Seeds of Hope Orphanage and had fun spending the afternoon with the kids. The rest of the days were filled with fun and madness with long rides, monkey garden, shopping and bonding and spending quality time together. It was over so fast.
Truly enjoyed my journey in Bali.
